What is Writes of Passage?
Writes of Passage is a monthly spoken word open mic for poets, storytellers, and anyone with something to say. Every third Thursday of the month at 7pm, we get together at UNO Criss Library to share our words, with the peak of every show being a featured performance by a spoken word artist, most of whom come from right here in Nebraska. These featured artists are paid for their time and talent, and the community brings it all together.

Our Mission
Writes of Passage provides a platform for spoken word artists (poets, storytellers, etc.) to share work, find community, and engage with the spoken word artform. Communities that uplift and celebrate the work of their members are more resilient and collaborative, a guiding belief of Writes of Passage. Writes of Passage commits to primarily showcase local Nebraska voices, compensate artists for their time and talent, and treat all people as possessing integral value.
